Michael Kors to expand New York presence

The Westchester mall has another high-profile designer to add to its ever-growing portfolio.

Michael Kors Inc. will be opening the doors to their new store on Retail Level Two on Aug. 24. The Westchester mall location is the company’s fifth freestanding store across the country.

The new Westchester store is just one part of the future of the designer’s company, which has three other store openings at the Roosevelt Field mall in Garden City, N.Y.; The Pier at Caesars in Atlantic City and Town Center Mall in Boca Raton, Fla., planned for the remainder of the year. The company’s most recent “lifestyle store” opening took place at the NorthPark Center in Dallas.

John Idol, chief executive officer of Michael Kors USA Inc., said Westchester is an important marketplace, which the company chose to capitalize on.

“We have had great success with our existing stores and we are proud to open our fifth store here in the states,” Idol said. “Retail is obviously an important component for our overall growth strategy, and we intend to increase the number of freestanding stores in key global markets over the next few years. Westchester, like Dallas, is another step in realizing this goal”.

The store will feature a full range of accessories from all of the New York designer’s collections – Michael Kors, KORS Michael Kors and MICHAEL Michael Kors – along with a selection of ready-to-wear pieces from the Michael Kors and MICHAEL Michael Kors lines.
Shoppers can also find their favorite Michael Kors fragrances, sunglasses and other accessories at the store.
