It’s J. Crew, only smaller

If you ask, you shall receive. That’s the motto of many J.Crew customers who have repeatedly asked the retailer to produce smaller versions of their apparel for their children.
On July 15, the J.Crew at The Westchester mall opened its new Crewcuts store, which is a freestanding boutique on retail level 3, for girls and boys ages 2 through 8.
Millard Drexler, J. Crew’s chairman and CEO, said the Crewcuts selections have both the same quality and signature Classics with a Twist style the retailer is famous for.
“We are going after a J. Crew style that our customers really love for themselves and want for their kids,” Drexler said in a statement. “Until now, we feel that the kids market has been missing a certain sophistication, price and quality that we hope to provide.”
The Westchester mall location, which was designed to look like a New England seaside cottage, will feature the complete Crewcuts collection, as well as shoes and accessories.
The apparel collection will include brighter color choices and pieces adorned with embroidered critters and graphics.
