Verizon selling Harrison, Greenburg buildings

Verizon Communications Inc. confirms it is looking to sell two of its key Westchester office sites, both of which sport White Plains addresses – 500 Westchester Ave. in Harrison and 10 County Center Road in Greenburgh.

“These locations are vacant and/or under-utilized properties with high vacancy rates,” said Heather Wilner, a Verizon spokeswoman. “To reduce vacancy rates, better align real estate assets with business needs and maximize potential sale value, Verizon will sell a vacant or under-utilized building if an acceptable offer can be generated.”

The properties are part of a package of Northeast sites being marketed through CB Richard Ellis Inc.

500 Westchester is a Verizon research and development site within a wooded campus along Interstate 287. Some 400 employees worked there in 2004, according to Westchester County’s “Major Businesses and Employment Sites” listing released that year.

10 County Center Road houses several Verizaon offices including the local office for FiOS TV, which the company has begun expanding into Westchester to compete head-on with Cablevision Systems Corp., plus the company’s community relations office.
Wilner could not furnish the square footage of both buildings at deadline.
